Dust jacket is toned with stains and tearing along the sides and particularly on the spine edge. Interior pages are toned but clean of marks and complete at 377 pages. 8 1/4" tall. - $125

 

Kings of the Rod Rifle and Gun by "Thormanby" (W. Wilmot Dixon). Volumes I and II, with 32 portraits and illustrations. London: Hutchinson and Co., 1901. Beautifully re-bound with the tree calf leather panels maintained front and rear; the spines are nicely gilt-detailed with a fish, a dog, a deer and a rabbit in four of the six spine panels. There is some foxing, but otherwise this is a clean, tight copy. 8 3/4" tall. - $350

Le Grant Testament Et La Petit by Francois Villon. 1957 Facsimile of the 1489 book. This is #251 of an edition of 5000. Bound in full vellum; cover has a blind-embossed emblem; chip at top hinge. 8 5/8" tall. - $125

 

Le Menege de Moliere by Maurice Donnay. Paris: Goupil & Cie, 1912. Finely-bound in maroon morrocco leather; gilt-ruled covers and gilt-decorated spine in six compartments. Spine dated Paris, 1913. Moire endpapers cracking at inner hinge. This is #8 of 50 examples on Japan paper with twelve beautifully hand-colored plates and twelve identical un-colored plates. This volume is housed in a matching slipcase box. 11 5/8" tall. - $450

A full green leather binding with gilt ruling and tooling on the front, back and spine. All fore-edges are gilt. There is some rubbing at the hinges and corners and the interior has some light foxing. 6 5/8" tall. - $125

The Life and Works of William Cowper by Robert Southey. Complete in Fifteen Volumes. London: Baldwin and Cradock, 1835. Bound in full green morocco leather; blind and gilt-tooled on covers and spines in signed bindings by Cedric Chivers. There is some light wear to the extremities with Vols. XI and V having light chipping at the spine top and scratches on the front cover of Vol. XI. Otherwise, a very attractive set. Interiors are tight and clean except for some foxing and toning focused at the first few and last few plates. Residual signs of past bookplates inside on paste-downs. Vol. I contains an original watercolor of the Cowper home as the frontispiece. Overall an attractive set. 6 5/8" tall. - $950
